Conceivedin the aftermath of the Revolution, this deliberately simplecreation reflected Breguet’s desire to respond to a societyin transformation and to new uses. Unique within his bodyof work, he personally explained its intentions, technicalchoices and philosophy in a printed document, deliberatelyadopting the perspective of his clients. It proved a success,with nearly 700 examples sold, most of them between1798 and 1805, attracting a new clientele to the House ofBreguet.
